Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about booking, pricing, visas, driving, and getting from Colombo Airport to your destination

Pricing & Booking

How much does a taxi from Colombo Airport cost?
Our private airport transfer prices are fixed with no hidden fees. From Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB): Sedan (3 passengers) from $45 USD, SUV (5 passengers) from $55 USD, Van (8 passengers) from $75 USD, and Luxury Mercedes (3 passengers) from $95 USD. The price includes vehicle, driver, fuel, highway tolls, and parking. Common routes: Negombo $35, Kandy $95, Galle $110, Ella $150, Sigiriya $120.
How do I book an airport transfer in Sri Lanka?
Booking takes under 2 minutes in 3 easy steps: (1) Choose your route — select your pickup point and destination, (2) Pick your vehicle — choose from Sedan, SUV, Van, or Luxury, (3) Confirm and book — enter your flight details and complete the booking. You will receive instant confirmation with your driver's details via email and WhatsApp. You can also book directly via WhatsApp at +94 77 772 1999.
Do I need to book my airport transfer in advance?
Yes — we strongly recommend booking at least 24 hours ahead, especially during peak season (December to March). Pre-booking guarantees a fixed price and a confirmed driver waiting with your name board at arrivals. Walk-up taxi queues at Colombo Airport are often long, prices are negotiated on the spot, and unlicensed touts are common in the arrivals area.
Is there a cancellation fee?
No, we offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before your scheduled pickup time. You can cancel or modify your booking at any time via WhatsApp or email with no penalty. Last-minute cancellations within 24 hours may incur a 50% charge.

Getting to & from the Airport

Is Uber available at Colombo Airport?
Uber does not operate reliably at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB). The local ride-hailing app PickMe has limited availability at the airport and long wait times during busy periods. Pre-booked private transfers are the most dependable option — the price is fixed upfront, and your driver meets you at arrivals with a name board.
Are taxis safe in Sri Lanka for tourists?
Licensed private transfers are safe for tourists in Sri Lanka. The risk comes from unlicensed taxi touts who approach arrivals at the airport — they often charge 3 to 4 times the fair rate and vehicles may be uninsured. All our drivers are SLTDA-licensed, fully insured, GPS-tracked, and have an average rating of 4.9 from over 5,000 verified travellers.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
We track all incoming flights in real-time using our flight monitoring system. If your flight is delayed, we automatically adjust your pickup time at no extra charge. Your driver will be waiting at the arrivals hall with a name board when you land, regardless of delays. We include 60 minutes of free waiting time from your actual arrival.
Do you offer transfers to all destinations in Sri Lanka?
Yes, we provide private transfers from Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) to every destination across Sri Lanka. Popular routes include Kandy (3.5 hours), Galle (2.5 hours), Sigiriya (4 hours), Ella (5.5 hours), Nuwara Eliya (5 hours), Trincomalee (5.5 hours), and Yala (5.5 hours). We also offer intercity transfers between any two cities in Sri Lanka.

On Arrival — Visas & Driving

Which countries get visa-free entry to Sri Lanka in 2026?
From early 2026, Sri Lanka is expanding visa-free access to approximately 40 countries, including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, France, India, China, Japan, South Korea, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Citizens of eligible countries no longer need to pay the standard ETA fee. Check the official portal at eta.gov.lk to confirm your nationality's current status.
Do I still need to apply for an ETA for Sri Lanka?
Citizens of visa-free eligible countries may no longer need to pay for an ETA, though the online application at eta.gov.lk may still apply depending on your nationality. For all other nationalities, the standard Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is required before or on arrival. If the ETA portal is experiencing technical issues, on-arrival processing at the airport immigration counter remains available.
Can I get a driving licence at Colombo Airport?
Yes. Since August 2025, tourists can obtain a temporary Sri Lanka driving licence directly at Bandaranaike International Airport on arrival. The licence costs LKR 2,000 (approximately $7 USD) per month and is valid for passenger vehicles. You will need your International Driving Permit or home country licence, passport, and a copy of your visa. Note that this licence is not valid for buses, lorries, or three-wheelers.
Is a temporary driving licence valid for a rental car?
Yes, the temporary licence issued at Colombo Airport is recognised by most car hire companies in Sri Lanka for standard passenger vehicles. However, roads in Sri Lanka are left-hand traffic and driving conditions differ significantly from Western countries — many visitors prefer the convenience of a professional chauffeur-driven transfer for long routes like Colombo to Kandy or Ella.

Vehicle & Service Details

Do you provide child seats?
Yes, we provide child seats and baby seats completely free of charge upon request. Simply mention the age and weight of your child when booking and we will have the appropriate seat fitted in your vehicle before pickup. We carry rear-facing infant seats, forward-facing child seats, and booster seats.
Are your drivers English-speaking and licensed?
Yes, all our drivers are SLTDA-licensed (Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority), fully insured, and fluent in English. Many also speak German, French, and Japanese. Every vehicle is GPS-tracked for your safety, and our drivers have an average rating of 4.9 out of 5 from over 5,000 international travellers.
Can I pay in cash?
Yes, we accept multiple payment methods. You can pay in cash (USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, or Sri Lankan Rupees) directly to your driver at the end of the journey. We also accept Visa and Mastercard payments online during booking. No advance deposit is required for cash payments.

Sri Lanka Travel Practicalities

What currency should I bring to Sri Lanka?
The local currency is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR). USD, EUR, and GBP are widely accepted at hotels, larger restaurants, and tour operators, and are the easiest to exchange at banks and airport counters. Our transfers can be paid in major foreign currencies or LKR, so you do not need local currency before leaving the airport. ATMs are available in the arrivals area at Colombo Airport.
Is Colombo Airport expanding?
Yes. Bandaranaike International Airport is undergoing a major $550 million Terminal 2 development, expected to increase annual passenger capacity to 35 million by end of 2027. During the construction period, some congestion around the terminal may affect road access times — our drivers account for this when planning pickup routes.
